That 'About Me' Page...

This blog came about because I was tired of seeing selfies and 'influencers' on some social media sites.

That's the truth.

You will find no selfies here. No influencers. No codging for 'likes.'

I do keep journals and track my days as best I can, but I thought someone out there might appreciate fountain pens, inks, vintage typewriters, vintage papers, ephemera, and all things nostalgic, as much as I do.

But as much as I love nostalgia, I have always kept up with technology.  I was teaching software courses in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the start of what we called the micro-computer age in those days, along with DOS, and other numerous software, to today, using Apple iMacs, iPads, and iPhones.  Before the 'personal computer' days, I taught word-processing courses at a major international company and, before that, I used manual, electric, and electronic typewriters.  Only the first 14 years of my life were devoid of some sort of mechanical machine with which to write.  Although, that's not entirely true; my uncle still has a letter I typed at around the age of seven.  Wish I knew what typewriter it was that I used!

I enjoy writing, photography, old typewriters, refurbishing them (though I know my limits and leave more advanced mechanical feats to those who know more,) both vintage and new fountain pens, and really love vintage ephemera.

I should also mention that I have an avid appreciation for architecture and, especially, MCM design.

And while we're on mid-century, one of my favourite topics, I have such an appreciation for photographers, Vivian Maier, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Bill Cunningham, Harold Feinstein, Henri Cartier Bresson, and others.  Two of my favourite MCM designers are Charles and Ray Eames, and in architecture, Joseph Eichler and Frank Lloyd Wright.
